Botswana Agate is a variety of banded Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family. Named for the area in Africa where it is mined, Botswana Agate is called the Sunset Stone because it retains sunlight and comforts people through dark, lonely nights.

• Botswana Agate is comforting and protective, soothing to those who are lonely, easily hurt or grieve a loss. Its quiet energy is particularly centring in meditation, and as a fortification Agate, it supports love and the strength to look for solutions rather than dwelling on difficulties.

• It is excellent for balancing emotional, physical and intellectual energy, and in harmonizing yin and yang, the positive and negative forces of the universe.
